There are the signboard made of natural wood and the noren (shop curtain) at the front door of Kodama Shicen Studio.
We exhibit and sell nishijin weaving (tsuzure weaving) items, such as accessories, business card holder, scarf (plant dyeing) at the entrance.
Every item is one of a kind.
Also, they are designed to be able to coordinate with not only kimono, but also casual dress.
Tsuzure weaving has tiny space between adjacent colors, since it expresses patterns using weft thread only.
It is difficult to adjust the strength of the finger.
Because we'd like more people to know about the attraction of the nishijin weaving (tsuzure weaving), we accept people as a students, not as pupils.
We have five looms in our studio. We use them properly, depending on the weaving process and progress.
There are three people in our studio, including a traditional craft artist, Kodama Schicen.
Once a month, Master Watanabe (Ogawa-ryu) comes to our studio, and we learn the manner of sencha (Japanese tea) after work.
It's a great relief for stress, and gives mental stability to us.
Having this opportunity is very important and meaningful for our activity of nishijin weaving (tsuzure weaving).
